Welcome to Water Mark Yacht Portraits home page!

I seem to have a little extra time while I'm sitting around in boat yards, marinas and yacht clubs, waiting for my husband to inspect a vessel.  With 3 to 4 hours to fill, I found myself sketching in a notepad or stealing the survey camera for awhile to capture some of the wonders that were in front of me.

As a teenager, I loved pictures - looking at family albums, snooping through magazines and coffee table books, or clicking away with my own 35mm.  My first camera was a "way-to-go" gift at the end of grade 5.  When I joined Air Cadets as a young teenager, I was first on the list for Photo Tech and for Videography, extra nights in the week where we could learn about these two wonderful mediums.  I even had a chance to volunteer time at our local Cable office.  The only limitations I ever experienced were money for more film or tapes and storage space!  And, with digital cameras, my original limitations have been greatly reduced.

As for art the old fashioned way, my mother bought me a watercolour set and sketch books and pencils ages ago, and I enjoyed relaxing by painting with acrylics when I was in University.  My military college experience certainly needed a dose of creative release to keep my sanity.  And I do appreciate taking the time to examine a single subject in a number of lights.  It is a real challenge to capture the true spirit of a subject  for display in a two-dimensional sense.

Hopefully, my passions combine to offer those of you who find beauty in boating a tasteful and thoughtful perspective.
